Tell your AI sales chat to give reasons for each recommendation
Updated: 17 hours ago

When an AI chat recommended a book, 61% of people chose it. When the same book was only first in a list, 22% of people chose it.
The study. Researchers at Princeton University asked 2,012 adults in the US to choose 1 book from 5,495 Kindle books. All of these adults read eBooks. Each person used a search page or an AI chat. The researchers marked 1 in 5 books as "sponsored" at random.
The finding. When the AI chat recommended the sponsored books, 61.2% of people chose a sponsored book. When a search page only put these books first, 22.4% of people chose one. This result is almost the same as the result of random choice (20%). With a clear "Sponsored" label, 55.5% of people chose a sponsored book. This small difference can be chance.
