Invite users to start new habits on Mondays and other new starts
Updated: 17 hours ago

People start new habits on dates that feel like a new beginning.
The study. Researchers from the University of Pennsylvania studied Google searches, gym visits and goal sign-ups on a goal website.
The finding. Searches for "diet", gym visits and new goals all increased at the start of a new week, month and year. They also increased after birthdays and holidays.
Why it matters. A new start helps people feel that their past failures are part of an old self. For a product, these dates are good times to ask users to start something new.
The takeaway. Send invitations for a new habit or feature on fresh-start dates, such as the first Monday of a month.
